This Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) Studies project looks at the ITEST portfolio of past and current projects from the perspective of two important and widespread roles that teachers are placed in during professional development programs: 1) teachers working as curriculum developers, where they learn content and receive pedagogical support and then develop their own curricular materials; and 2) teachers working as pedagogical experts, where they learn to use provided curricular materials and work on adaptations/plans to implement them in their classrooms. The study examines what kinds of professional development activities promote and/or influence innovative technology classroom implementation and changes in teaching practices, and under what circumstances these changes are enacted. This study is collaborative effort among researchers at EDC, TERC, and the University of Maryland.
