This subcontract with the CNA Corporation is testing whether Using Data will help teachers make better use of assessment data to improve student performance in mathematics.

With an external evaluator (WestEd), CNA will conduct rigorous statistical analysis of student achievement across treatment and control groups in over 30 elementary schools in a large, diverse district with varied success on standards-based tests for mathematics. Researchers will examine beginning and end scores on the mathematics portion of state achievement tests and examine how teachers' use of data informs instructional planning as they progress from "low-capacity" to "high-capacity" responses to what they are learning from their data.
